Last week the team at PSSAG were out in the field at Moree for the start-up of two new winter crop planters. Down and upforce control used to be primarily a summer crop row unit domain, but now PSSAG has the ability to monitor/map and control row unit down force, either in sections or individually on various winter crop planters.
This season has been arguably the best start for many to a winter cropping program for the last few years, planting into moisture instead of dust certainly has its benefits. In the current soft conditions it has certainly been very advantageous to only be applying the required downforce necessary to achieve consistent sowing depth with minimal compaction to ensure germination and emergence in unhindered to give the plant the best possible start.
If you are thinking of winter crop monitoring or ways to improve your planters performance be sure to call the team at PSSAG.
